ANNOUNCEMENTS: (Updated 4/23/2020)

  1. We will start weekly Zoom meetings since we will not be able to go back to school. You can download the app on your phone or go to the website on a computer. We will use this time to discuss anything that you are reading for the distance learning assignment or the iReady assignments. You can also ask any questions that you have during this time. The instructions on how to join are in your Google Classroom account as an announcement.
  2. We were going to read The Outsiders at the end of the year, and I know a lot of you were excited to do that. I have put the full text PDF on my teacher page if you are still interested in reading it. You can also find the audiobook on YouTube if you want to listen as you read along. It is a really good book if you are looking for something to read. The students really love this book every year. This is something else that we can discuss during our Zoom meeting every week.
  3. The iReady packet is also available on my teacher page. It is a lot of paper to print, so if you can’t or don’t want to print that much, you can work through it on your own on a scratch piece of paper. It is different than the lessons that are online, but you can at least be working on something while we’re out of school.
  4. I will be available for questions Monday-Friday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. E-mail me at if you need me or have questions about an assignment.
  5. The rubic for the bonus points from iReady are as follows:

12 points

25 points

38 points

50 points

ELA -Completeness

1 of each lesson (3)

2 of each lesson (6)

3 of each lesson (9)

I hate that we aren’t finishing up the year together, but I do hope that you are all safe and healthy. I hope to see you on our Zoom meetings on Thursdays from 1:00-2:00! I’ll send out the link for you closer to time.

Reading and English

Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are.

All students will be required to read and test on an AR book once per nine weeks. This grade will be averaged in as a grade. If they take more than one AR test for the nine weeks, the highest grade will be recorded.
